TopoFlight offers the possibility to choose between software and hardlock (USB) registration (per-seat or concurrent).

Per-Seat Software Registration
Per-seat licenses are installed locally and tied to the computer the program is installed on. This means the software only runs on one computer.
This option is one of the easiest to deal with and is a good choice if the flight plans are always generated on the same computer.

Concurrent Software Registration
Concurrent licenses are "floating" licenses and determined for the use in a network. TopoFlight has to be installed on each computer which will be used for flight planning. One computer in the network functions as license server (this computer can be a normal workstation which is also used for doing flight plans etc. and doesn’t have to be a server). A license server software has to be installed on this machine and both the license server and the license server software have to run whenever TopoFlight is used. The number of users working with TopoFlight at the same time depends on the number of concurrent licenses which were purchased.
A concurrent licensing model is a good option for companies where flight plans are done by different users on different computers at different times.

Per-Seat Hardlock Registration
The hardlock license is tied to a USB dongle. TopoFlight is installed on the computer(s) which are used for doing flight plans. The software only runs on the computer where the USB dongle is plugged.
Per-seat hardlock registration is a perfect option for being independent from specific computers. The same license can be used for running the software both on a workstation in the office and on a notebook while being on a flight mission.

Concurrent Hardlock Registration
This is a combination of the software concurrent and per-seat hardlock registration. The license is tied to a USB dongle and the computer where the hardlock is plugged functions as license server.
A hardlock based concurrent licensing model is a good option for companies where flight plans are done by different users on different computers at different times but at the same time with the need to be able to run TopoFlight in a non-office environment.

Mixing Software And Hardlock Registration
Mixing software and hardlock licenses can be a very interesting option too. One or several software license(s) are used for the flight planning in the office and the hardlock license(s) are used on notebook(s) while working out of the office (e.g. to update flight plans while being on a flight mission).
